White Wednesday - Good to be back home!

Oh. My.Gosh!

I am back in Oregon

(1/2 time in Montana
for each of the last
3 months!)

Last night I put some
creamy goodies
on my sideboard.

Bits of this and that ....

Things I own and like.

Look at the detail on this vintage print by Paul de Longpre.

Found this at an estate sale last summer and heart pounded ....

Love at first sight?

(note:  deLongpre was a
French-born American painter
and horticulturist 1855-1911)

watercolor ....
roses ....
1900's sense of style ...

What's NOT to love??

Put into a vintage frame and
propped it in front of the mirror.

I love this as a backdrop!

Love the crackle on this ironstone!

A bunch of small oval dishes
(ironstone, of course!)
I use for EVERYTHING ...

stacked under one of my
favorite candles.

Love the look of corks ....

(and see my hiding place for
special notes behind the mirror frame?)

Another ironstone plate
(I love the oval shape best!)

More scented candles
that make the room smell
DELISH!

And a chippy white
ammo box.

Didn't know it was an
ammo box - just love the
chippy white paint.

Isn't it just
AWESOME?!

A barn sale find ...

It's good to be home.

Hugs and hope you have a wonderful White Wednesday and can surround yourself with things that make you smile!

White Wednesday - Here Comes the Bride

Yes it's Wednesday.

White Wednesday to be precise.

Yes -- I have missed some.

But here goes ....

Instead of looking
far and wide
for pics promoting
the
awesome-ness of white

let me

SHARE with YOU

some of my own

VINTAGE WEDDING PICS*

I wonder who the happy couple is.

And this one, too ...
Finally,
"Aunt Myrtle and husband"

AND
for those of you who
DON'T LIKE
VINTAGE WEDDING PICS

Something
wedding related
It doesn't get any better than this ...
old white ironstone
and a vintage fork
with tines holding a placard.

From Elizabeth (of Elizabeth House fame)
and her Carriage House Wedding

From the opening comment
"burlap is today's tulle"
to the closing statement
"we trusted our hearts"

this is a site you will
fall in love with
each time you visit.

CHEERS!

Hugs and Happy White Wednesday (visit Kathleen at Faded Charm for a list of participants -- and a giveaway!)

*note: all photos are believed to be weddings, but no guarantees!  All were purchased at estate sales, flea markets, ebay, and other sources.  No real information regarding individuals, (sometimes written on back) but consider them all family.  You may download the images to use in journals or other artwork.  If you do, please send me a pic of the finished project so we can celebrate together!
ps if you don't care for the style of dress, stick around!  More to come later ....  In the meantime, get a kick out of the elaborately painted backdrops ..... or furniture choices, hairstyles and "gleeful" expressions.  Enjoy!

White Wednesday London Part 5

WHITE
I like white.

In my home I have
white walls, white trim
white balcony ...
Well,
my TEMPORARY house
here in London.
I also like the
maybe-used-to-be
white.
Like the balcony door latch
and balcony door hinge.

And love the
"sorta white".

That chippy look
that I LOVE
that mom called
"old, dirty stuff".

Now I know these things
have
"crackleture"
sound pretty high-end to me!

Here are some
French pots
that I bought at market yesterday.

Some of the bottoms are marked in
English...
Some in French ...
and some just have number imprints.
They all speak my language!

Hugs and Happy White Wednesday!

Kempton Races - London part 4

Treasure hunting at the racetrack.
Not looking for odds on a pony ....
but winning on a
sure thing.

We're talkin'
Antique Market
baby!

Kempton Park

A racetrack much of the time
but home to antique market
every other week

Treasures from
England and Europe.
(Hurrah for the Chunnel!)

Of course there are no pictures of
our tube and train ride there.

Quaint towns, gardens,
etc, etc.

The camera stayed at the hotel.

Guess it wanted a nap.

After returning I woke the camera
and snapped a few pics to share.

Overview of the "finds"
Not a great pic - but includes
Victorian letter holder
lots of silverplate
knife rests
serving spoons
salt and mustard spoons
fish knives
no bone handles, though.
(too pricey)

many old keys
lion door knocker
drawer and door pulls
furniture brasses
clock faces
even a lock box
with key and inset drawer
that's chippy red inside!

See anything you like?

I love it all!
Who can resist?

To top it off?

Old legal documents.
Dating from
1851 to 1906 or so.

Not on paper.

REAL vellum.

Mmmmm!

How about a closer look?
Until next time!

Hugs and hope your day is filled with treasure --

Treasures! (Part 1)

Despite setbacks of uncooperative camera and computer ... here are some of the TREASURES from recent jaunts to Olympia and Redmond -- and a few other spots the last two weeks. Aren't they GREAT?!!

Can you tell I like old photographs. Like this GREAT pic.
WHAT STYLE!
(I also ALWAYS take a wrap to the beach lol!)

and floral frogs, and ironstone,
and PINK ROSES?!!

There are also old law books, men's shirt collars,
silverplated spoons and spreaders ...
rhinestone shoe clips,
a lariat dish and footed cake salver.

Did you see the PONY?
Every girl should have a pony at some time in her life -- and NOW I have MINE!

If you closely study posts from With A Grateful Heart,
the cake salver might look familiar.
It is just like the one (farthest back)
on loan to Deepwood Hisoric Estate.
That one was MY GRANDMOTHERS.
The "new" one is for my soon-to-be DIL.
The wedding is end of May, so PERFECT TIMING
on finding this treasure JUST FOR HER!

Wonderful treasure story from a week ago.
SPOILER ALERT -- It has a happy ending!
We helped a little with a family-run estate sale.
A few fun things came home with me.
HOWEVER ... two chairs did not.
Someone else whooshed them away in a not-so-nice way.
Hurt feelings. But tried (a little) to keep things in perspective.
How can you mourn something like that? But I did.
The NEXT DAY we saw there was a little sale
not too far from our house.
Summary of that morning?

POURING RAIN
NEAT gal going to PERU as a Missionary
She had a CHAIR and some old rugs waiting for ME!
AND ...

in a brown paper bag
just for me ...

were these:

Look where they came from!

And even better,

a CHRISTMAS stocking made from an old crazy quilt.
I felt so LOVED. Smiling and happy dancing all day!

HUGS and have a great day!
Sammy Girl

today's work: what length of post is best and how many photos ... do I talk too much?
