White Wednesday - New Beginnings ....

Dark winter night
brightened by
WHITE
on the kitchen
windowsill.

A bit of sparkle
banishes the gloom
and
plays well with others!
The Haeger vase
just waits for
spring flowers.
A shell beacons
me to
a sunny summer beach.
The faithful
cyclamen
embraces winter
and makes me smile.
She wears a bit of
jewelry ....
an old silver fork
with
blooms of its own.
The kitchen counter
respelendent
with mercury glass
and white roses
is in dress rehearsal.

They have a
secret surprise.

It's going to be a
great year!
Hugs and here's to celebrating all the possibilities of the New Year!

note: this is the FIRST post with my new computer. None of the programs or files would transfer (yet!) ... but I had some pictures in my camera.

व्हिते वेद्नेस्दय

व्हिते वेद्नेस्दय!!
Welcome to White Wednesday!!
As a famous actor, racecar driver and
salad dressing empresario
once said …
“What we have here is a failure to communicate।”

My standard computer is
fried and the back-up
(once abandoned for talking Russian)
is now only talking to you in Hindi।
सी! थिस इस वहत आईटी दोएस!

I am only able to “talk” to you
by typing in publisher and
copying and pasting to the post।

Way too much work,
but I wanted to have a post to say “hi”
and share some neat stuff।
Alas, the pictures are on the fried computer!
I know many of you have been there and can commiserate।
Guess what I’m wanting to get for an early Christmas present!

Enjoy the images
(print ones are from my collection …
photos were on my नो हिन्दी स्पेअकिंग machine
for couple of years from who knows where … mine??)
Hugs and may all your “failures to communicate” have an element of fun!
Sammy Girl :)
Note: if you read Hindi … let me know if the translation is as funny as Google translate!

White Wednesday - Here Comes the Bride part 2

It's another manic monday ....

(get it ... The Bangles?)

NO! NO! NO! Sammy Girl!

It's NOT Monday and
we're not "wishin it were Sunday"

 but we're HAPPY

that it's

White Wednesday ...

and we're off to see the brides!

Where?

This sign from here should help us find the way!
The etsy site Signs by Diane is out of stock
but you could always ask if you need one!

Don't ya just LOVE a
MODERN GIRL?!!

Diggin' those glasses ...
and her watch!
WOW!
The whole bridal party
from a wedding about the same period ...
including a flower girl
with an REALLY BIG bow.
Here's another ....

Wax orange blossoms for
him and her.
UBER traditional thanks to
Queen Victoria.
More on wax orange blossom pieces

Now you know what they were copying!

And another, similar in style ...

White Wednesday - Here Comes the Bride

Yes it's Wednesday.

White Wednesday to be precise.

Yes -- I have missed some.

But here goes ....

Instead of looking
far and wide
for pics promoting
the
awesome-ness of white

let me

SHARE with YOU

some of my own

VINTAGE WEDDING PICS*

I wonder who the happy couple is.

And this one, too ...
Finally,
"Aunt Myrtle and husband"

AND
for those of you who
DON'T LIKE
VINTAGE WEDDING PICS

Something
wedding related
It doesn't get any better than this ...
old white ironstone
and a vintage fork
with tines holding a placard.

From Elizabeth (of Elizabeth House fame)
and her Carriage House Wedding

From the opening comment
"burlap is today's tulle"
to the closing statement
"we trusted our hearts"

this is a site you will
fall in love with
each time you visit.

CHEERS!

Hugs and Happy White Wednesday (visit Kathleen at Faded Charm for a list of participants -- and a giveaway!)
Sammy Girl

*note: all photos are believed to be weddings, but no guarantees!  All were purchased at estate sales, flea markets, ebay, and other sources.  No real information regarding individuals, (sometimes written on back) but consider them all family.  You may download the images to use in journals or other artwork.  If you do, please send me a pic of the finished project so we can celebrate together!
ps if you don't care for the style of dress, stick around!  More to come later ....  In the meantime, get a kick out of the elaborately painted backdrops ..... or furniture choices, hairstyles and "gleeful" expressions.  Enjoy!

Weddings

I heart vintage wedding pictures!

Thought I would share a few.
This one is from Dawn a while back.

Unknown provenance ..

Hulda had twin daughters.
Double wedding.
She made their wedding dresses.
Garden is a GOTTA GO when
lilacs are in bloom.

Another with unknown provenance,
(which means I cannot remember where the image came from)
But I love the hand tinting.

This is currently my favorite wedding pic.
Not as vintage as the rest.

Nope -- not even vintage at all.
Unless you are counting in DAYS ...
and then it's OVER 60!
MSTG and RSG
at their reception.

Hugs!
note:  I actually own dozens of vintage wedding pics and am considering scanning and sharing them.  Good idea or waste of time?
*MSTG my son the genius and RSG rocket scientist girl - Married May 31, 2009!!
2nd note: we are having a wedding shower TODAY!  Our niece is getting married on Saturday ... and both girls and both grandkids in the wedding.   Then countdown to our vacay!  HURRAY!

Till Death and Treasures (Part II)

Till Death Do Us Part

I guess all blogs are "Till Death Do Us Part" .... death of a computer, that is, lol!
Whew! Computer still a little "icky", but NOT DEAD! .... and REALLY, I would rather it not die right now. Not sure when would be a convenient time, but probably after Pink Princess returns to the states. (Love that Skype!)

First a little housekeeping.

Yes - I said there would be a GIVEAWAY the first of LAST week. You didn't miss it. I hasn't happened .... but is coming ... I PROMISE!

Second - some folks (sorry Tracey!) haven't been able to leave comments. I'll try to figure things out, but think related to computer issues. Anyone else had problems leaving comments, please e-mail me. Thanks!

Third - heading out to Oklahoma City tomorrow, so if anyone has ideas of places I simply MUST see, please let me know. OR ... if you know someone who knows someone .... YOU get the idea!

Finally -- here are a few more treasures from my trip to Redmond.

I LOVE vintage wedding things. This sweet little wedding certificate in the white frame has
PINK ROSES!

Dated 1912 in Woodburn, Oregon.
Two scriptural references, including one from Ruth.

This little beauty, supposedly in it's original gold-ish frame,

ALSO has pink roses! (See why I had to get BOTH!!)

This one is 1903 in Birdstown, Tennessee.YUM!

Hugs to you!
