The Molly Mo's Summer Antique Faire was so much fun!

I usually attend to shop, but this year I shared a tent with Lisa of Wind Horse Antiques & participated as a vendor.  I managed to grab a couple of pics ... but confess that they are pretty low quality.

Vintage country kitchen featuring red and white was the theme for this show ... and it was great to send some of my treasures off onto their next adventure.

I'll be at the Deepwood Vintage Flea Market in September.  The look will be completely different -- with nary a bit of red in the Solarium. 

Friday night, September 13, (yes, it's Friday the 13th)  will be GREAT FUN with live music, nibbles, beverages, and EARLY BUYING. 

You should pre-buy your $15 ticket for this Flea Market Soiree, as they are limited in number and going fast!

HISTORY LESSON

We owe the Pointsettia to a southern gentleman.

Dr. Joel Roberts Poinsett introduced America to the poinsettia in 1828,

after discovering it in the wilderness in southern Mexico

while serving as the first US Ambassador to that country..

Dr. Poinsett, who dabbled in botany when he wasn't politicking between nations,

sent cuttings of the plant back to his South Carolina home.

I love the

colors and typestyles

of vintage postcards.

13 Caskets!

Friday the 13th

is almost over.

Time to talk about

caskets.

No! No! No!

Not caskets, as in

COFFINS!

Caskets

as in

JEWELRY CASKETS!

These little babies were popular from

about 1904 - 1914.

I LOVE THEM!

Why 13 caskets?

Why because my

"new"

one from Diane

(Molly Mo)

is number 13!

Lucky number 13 with the

precious pink lining!

(and see the small one with blue lining

for you blue lovers??)

Here she is for her close-up!

My delight in these 

small bits of history

began with one from my

great grandmother.

That first one is on the right

three quarter profile

with the "bonk"

on the rose.

The one in front has no lid

I use it for antique store cards.

Most of mine are oval.

Except for the cute little square one!

Swirls and bows

and flowers ...

Art Nouveau at it's best!

I keep them in the front room

a sweet little cabinet

with mirrors to reflect

casket glory!

Oh, and here are 

their friends ...

Yellow?

My oh my!

I don't know when it happened.
Or why it happened.
Maybe it was always there -
just ignored, overlooked, and
unloved.

My friendship with yellow.

I have been seeing yellow EVERYWHERE!

A couple of blogs caused me to think about

YELLOW.

And that is ODD because

I AM A PINK (and RED) GIRL

My friend Adrienne LOVES yellow.

But she's my dear friend, and I accepted that without too much thought.

Oh, my. Did I consider it a character flaw?

She has the cutest things.
She recently posted on yellow.

And (shudder) I LIKED IT!

She got me to thinking.

(Yeah, I know, NOT THAT!!)

But I NEEDED to KNOW.

Do I like yellow?

Some of the blogs I follow seem to love yellow.

Yellow Rose Arbor has yellow depression glass.

But, what's not to love about depression glass?
ANY COLOR!

And on, and on, and on.

But then I noticed the Yellow FarmHouse.

It seems SHE likes yellow.

But see her new kitchen? RED cabinets!

So even if she likes YELLOW ... she must love RED, too!

But what about ME?!

Not much yellow in my world.

(Well, apart from the daffodils, lol!)

Years ago I gathered together EVERYTHING yellow I owned that could be used for home decor and gave to our oldest for her place at college. I even bought her several sunflower pictures, some artifical flowers, and a few things I thought she would like.

I had no trouble parting with them, because I "didn't like yellow".

It never occured to me that I had yellow items to give her because

I had purchased them.

More than that, I had

found them and saved them.

Hmmm.

But what about NOW?

Looking around I noticed that sometimes I still buy little bits of yellow.

Now, honestly, could YOU resist that little elephant?

And he couldn't be all alone, so he NEEDED

the little vases to escort him.

BUT ....

As I did my "color survey"

I discovered that

MY YELLOW is

ALL GLAMMED UP.

Yellow with ATTITUDE

Well, all around my house there are bits of

BRASS and GOLD.

EVERYWHERE!

Gold curtains and picture frames...

Brass lamp with shades and a tassel that have gold.

(I just LOVE a touch of animal print!!)

Brass candlesticks alongside the chippy white ones.

Vintage gold colored frame (that's my grandpa with the bow in his hair!)

And my FAVS ...

the little gold-tones jewelry caskets that I collect.

Doesn't that sound so much more chi-chi than jewerly box??

And, honestly, I DIDN'T make it up!!

BUT guess what ...

I guess yellow and I have been soul-mates all along.

We just have ATTITUDE.

Pink - the COLOR

Pretty in Pink .... feeling "in the pink" ... the very pink of perfection ...

Pink connotes health and vitality. Youthfulness. Femininity. Young Love.

I like it.

Just because.

Not because it is trendy .... (or is it classic?). I dunno.

I just like it and the exhuberance it brings.

Don't you just LOVE that word, EXHUBERANCE?

It is MEANT to live surrounded by exclamation marks!

Maybe it should hereafter be called P!NK?

(Though I understand that is the name of ANOTHER musician,

so my apologies for any tradmark infringement.)

(The PALE pink Christmas goodies are all napping, but could wake for a future cameo!)

(They live in a RED Ikea cabinet ... hee hee!

And what could be better than a couple of pink rose-kissed teacups?

Unless it's a WHOLE BUNCH of pink-y and flower-y teacups?!!

OH YAH!

Maybe just one tiny vintage cup.

With the most delicate pink rosebud

proclaiming itself as "A present".

The crochet bookmark my Grandma made was extra special because mine was ...PINK!

The little button hook from my friend's mom?

The color choice was clear.
